Softball Lady ‘Cats get blanked twice by Charleston

CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Wesleyan softball team got shutout both games of their doubleheader against the Charleston Golden Eagles Saturday by 10-0 and 2-0 scores. The team combined for just six hits across the two games.

Game 1

Victoria Wehrberger absorbed the loss pitching two innings allowing five hits, five runs, and one walk. Kelsi Brown pitched 2/3 of an inning and give up five earned runs. Charleston scored first in the second from a two-run single. In the third, the Golden Eagles brought across eight in the inning with three multi RBI hits including a two-run home run to make it 10-0. Emma Jackson, Kendall Stoffel, and Hallie Dinklocker mustered the only hits for the Lady Bobcats.

Game 2

Stoffel worked on the rubber in game two in a close scoring ball game. She pitched six innings allowing seven hits, two earned runs, and collecting five strikeouts. The bats for the Lady Bobcats remained quiet in this game. Charleston’s only runs came from an RBI ground-out in the third inning and a solo home run in the fifth for their 2-0 win.
