118 new COVID-19 cases reported in West Virginia on Thursday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 118 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m., on August 6, 2020, there have been 307,255 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 7,277 total cases and 124 deaths,” according to a press release.

New cases were reported Thursday in Berkeley, Boone, Cabell, Doddridge, Fayette, Grant, Hampshire, Hancock, Hardy, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Nicholas, Ohio, Pendleton, Pleasants, Putnam, Raleigh, Taylor, Tyler, Wayne, Webster, Wood and Wyoming counties.

About 1,823 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 5,330 people have recovered and 124 have died. The daily percent positive was 2.42%.
