The City of Buckhannon will be performing the annual spring clean-up of the cemeteries (Buckhannon Memorial Park, Old Heavner, Second Addition, Veterans and Old Baptist) from March 24, 2025, through March 28, 2025.
All items must be removed before the scheduled clean-up. Any items left will be disposed of during the cemetery clean-up. If you have any questions, you may call 304-472-1651 or 304-472-5755 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
No. 2 Fairmont State swept No. 3 West Virginia Wesleyan 4-0 in Saturday’s MEC semifinal in Charleston. The Falcons grabbed the doubles point and rolled through singles wins from Moens, Haruto and Liedtke to punch their ticket to the 2026 MEC Championship.

West Virginia Wesleyan closed the regular season in style, sweeping Davis & Elkins on the road 9-1 and 6-5. The Bobcats powered a 13-hit opener highlighted by Dylan Neach’s three-run homer, then survived a late Senators rally to seal the doubleheader sweep.
Buckhannon-Upshur’s Lady Bucs closed the regular season with two home wins, edging Fairmont Senior 6-5 before rolling past Martinsburg 17-3 behind Mallory Moss’ 14-goal week. The 8-4 Lady Bucs finished first in Division I and earned a first-round playoff bye.
A Buckhannon man was arrested on burglary and grand larceny charges after allegedly taking $5,000 from a residence where he was hired to do work.
Buckhannon’s May 4–8, 2026 city calendar includes curbside recycling (May 5), a Waste Collection Board meeting and City Council meeting (May 7), and bulky goods pickup starting May 8—call by May 6 to schedule.
