BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Wesleyan (1-1-1, 1-0-0) women’s soccer team scored three times in the first half to earn a 3-0 win over Glenville State (1-2-0, 1-1-0) on Wednesday (Sept. 15) at Culpepper Stadium.
After a foul on Glenville State’s Jordyn Dansby-Ross in the 31st minute, Natalie Pireu sent a towering free kick over the head of the goalkeeper Mikayla Brown for a 1-0 advantage.
From there, Wesleyan settled into a groove. The ball landed in the box during the 38th minute with the Bobcats on the attack. Natalia Roppolo and Kilee Boone teamed up on the assist to Paloma Zamora for her collegiate goal.
The Bobcats scored once more before halftime when Kameron Bonneau moved inside the six and knocked in her first collegiate goal. Hannah Murphy and Danielle Jonas both picked up an assist as Wesleyan led 3-0 at halftime.
Paige Miller started in goal for the Bobcats and Ally Moore registered three saves in the second half for the shutout victory.
WVWC plays host to Charleston in Buckhannon on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
