TENNERTON – Following a pair of early goals by both teams, the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs and University settled for a 1-1 tie in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon at Ted Crites Memorial Field at Tom Hasbrouck Stadium.
The two teams each scored a goal in the first 11 minutes of the contest, but that was the only scoring in the game.
Catherine Oliveto put the Lady Bucs on the scoreboard first in the seventh minute. She played a pass from left of center from Cameron Zuliani and found the back of net, beating University keeper Rachel Works.
The Hawks tied the game four minutes later when Chole Downs scored after a defensive breakdown by the Lady Bucs.
The Lady Bucs had to feel snake-bitten on offense as they had their chances, managing to put 17 shots-on-goal but only being able to get one past Works who had 16 saves.
University put seven shots-on-goal with Buckhannon-Upshur goalie Kyndal Davis making six saves.
The Lady Bucs held a 5-2 lead in the corner kicks.
The tie left head coach Jackie Zuliani’s team with an 11-5-2 record.
They will conclude their regular season Tuesday hosting Elkins at 5:30 p.m.
The team is still waiting for the regular season to wrap up to find out the seedings for their sectional tournament.
