Mary Katherine May, 71, of French Creek, made her journey to Heaven on Monday, January 10, 2022, from the Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg.
She was born in Webster Springs on August 6, 1950, a daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Tingler Sparks. In addition to her parents, Mary was greeted in Heaven by two sisters: Charlotte Dancy and Susan Fay.
On September 24, 1972, Mary married her true love Billy John May. Together they shared 49 years of marriage and the joys of raising their six children.
Forever cherishing their memories of Mary’s giving nature along with her husband are two sons: James Sparks of Webster Springs and Oscar Carter of Craigsville; four daughters: Connie Avery and husband, Peter, of Jane Lew, Billie Smith of French Creek, Bettie Jo Wine of Burnsville, and Casey Renee May of Sutton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen McCourt and husband, Danny, of Florida; two brothers: Bill Sparks and Mike Sparks both of Webster Springs; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary was Christian by faith and put love in everything she did, including taking care of her home, children, and grandchildren. She loved to cook, especially potato salad. Among her favorite things to do were shopping, riding a four-wheeler, going on picnics and camping at Bergoo.
