AVON, Ohio – The West Virginia Wesleyan (1-22, 1-11) baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Notre Dame (Ohio) on Sunday (April 3) afternoon at Mercy Health Park in Avon, Ohio.
Inside Game One
The Falcons got on the scoreboard first with a pair of runs in the second inning. The Bobcats answered in the third when Sam Ingram laced his second double of the game. Devin Johnson doubled to left and put runners at second and third for WVWC. Martin Radosevic smacked a three-run dinger over the center field wall to put Wesleyan on top 3-2.
NDC regained the lead after a two-run third. The Falcons added a run in the fifth inning. Game Mustovic crossed the plate after an NDC error to put the ‘Cats within one going into the seventh inning.
Cole Shearer led off the seventh inning with a clutch leadoff knock to right field. Pinch runner Jaylon Robinson swiped second base and then advanced to third following a passed ball. Ingram tied the game with a sac fly to right field. The Falcons brought the winning run to third base in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jake Mauzy got WVWC out of the jam and sent the game into extra innings.
Radosevic stepped up to the plate to lead off the top of the eighth inning. The graduate student blasted his second bomb of the game to put Wesleyan on top. The Falcons roared back and scratched across two runs to win the contest 6-5 in eight innings.
Ingram, Johnson, and Radosevic all racked up multi-hit games. Ingram roped two doubles while Johnson had one double. Robbie Baker tossed 2.1 innings and punched out two batters. Alec Tamburri had an effective outing in relief with three strikeouts and gave up one run in four innings of work.
Inside Game Two
The Falcons pushed six runs in the first inning. The Bobcats fought back by scoring 5- runs in the top of the third innings. Shearer and Gabe Mustovic led the inning with back-to-back walks while Jack Tilton laid down a bunt that led into an infield single. Johnson cleared the bases with a double into right center cutting the lead down to 3 runs at the moment. Geovani Sostre would single into right field to score Johnson from second base and Thatcher Poteat would conclude the top of the inning with a single of his own to score Radosevic to make the score 6 to 5, NDC.
Falcons would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third and the Bobcats would score one run in the top of the fourth inning. Shearer starts the inning by getting on base with an error made by the Falcons. Ingram would capitalize with another double to right field moving Shearer to third. Tilton grounds out to second base that would score Shearer to make the score 8 to 6, NDC.
Falcons’ offense would continue to come alive by scoring another run in the bottom half of the fourth inning and the Bobcats’ hitter would score two more runs to keep this game tight in the fifth inning. Radosevic led off the inning with a double to right field and Sostre would collect another hit of his own by an infield bunt to move Radosevic to third. Poteat singled up the middle to clear the bases to make the score 9 to 8, NDC.
In the bottom of the fifth and sixth, the Falcons’ bats would remain hot to conclude game two with the final score of 15 to 8 in favor of NDC.
Sostre led the Bobcats with three hits while Ingram, Radosevic, and Poteat had two hits each in game two.

The Bobcats are slated to return home from the road trip to take on University of Charleston for a doubleheader on Saturday at Hank Ellis Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
