Betty Elizabeth Rohr

Betty Elizabeth Rohr, 92, passed from this world into eternal light and peace on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

She was born in Woodsfield, Ohio on December 28, 1929, the sixth of seven children born to E.O. and Mary Longdon Smith.

Betty will be deeply missed by her two daughters: Peggy (Don) Swisher of Indian Land, SC, and Lakeland, FL, and Linda (Rick) Browning of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren: Bryan (Mara) Swisher of Charlotte, NC, and Brooke (Scott) LeBlanc of Indian Land, SC; and two precious great grandsons: Gavin LeBlanc and Zayden Swisher. In addition, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her soulmate of 49 years Oran R. (Ronnie) Rohr.

Betty, aka, the card lady has spent the last 30 years sending cards to her friends. Once you were placed on this list, you could expect to see your cards arrive on all your special occasions. Up until Christmas 2021, Betty would start in the month of October addressing these cards but more importantly, adding a personal note inside each of the more than 100 cards she sent out each year.

During her lifetime, she held a variety of jobs. Her favorite job was serving Glenville State College as secretary in the maintenance department. She took great pride in serving the facility, students, and employees of GSC. She was an Eastern Stars member at Grantsville, WV for 50+ years. Betty loved attending the athletic events at Glenville and was an avid Mountaineer fan. But watching her grandson, Bryan, playing football, basketball and baseball at Buckhannon-Upshur High School and Concord University brought the greatest pride and joy to her. As Brooke performed in musicals, ran track, and cheered, Betty was there lovingly watching her granddaughter. Betty was an athlete herself, she played and lettered in basketball at her alumni Weston High School. She was elected homecoming queen by her piers during her senior year (1947-48).

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church located at 88 S. Kanawha St. in Buckhannon from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Funeral Services will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Paul Rebelo officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Weston.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care-Palmetto Region, 1087 Red Venture Dr, Suite 150, Fort Mill, SC 29707.

We, at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Betty Elizabeth Rohr. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ClutterFuneralHome.com.
