As the days grow colder, the leaves begin to turn and fall once again. Rain eventually turns to snow, and many find it increasingly difficult to put food on the table for the holidays. The Wesleyan Engaging Leaders through Education, Awareness, & Development (WE LEAD) Poverty Reduction issue team would like to take this most spooky of season to ask of you, the community of Buckhannon, to help put food on the table for everyone with our annual Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods.
The WE LEAD Poverty Reduction team is glad to once again be working with the Upshur Cooperative Parish House to help support those in need. The effects of COVID-19 have contributed greatly to the needs of many of our neighbors, friends, and loved ones. So, in honor of supporting all our friends and families in Buckhannon, WE LEAD Poverty Reduction, the Parish House, and West Virginia Wesleyan College are proud to announce the 20th annual Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods Event!
One of the greatest aspects about this event is that you can help make this project flourish by donating a few nonperishable food items to Wesleyan student trick-or-treaters! These trick-or-treaters can be distinguished by them asking, “Would you like to donate nonperishable food items for the Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods event?” There will be a handful of routes traveled by students, but if your house is missed or you are not home, your donations are always more than welcome at the Parish House (located on the corner of College Avenue and Sedgwick Street) during the week from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., or Thursday evenings from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods will be held Monday, October 31, 2022, from 6-7:30 pm; the students of West Virginia Wesleyan will be eager to transport your donations from your home to the Parish House! Please show support to the community by having a few cans of nonperishable food items ready for the trick-or-treaters, and your support and donations are greatly appreciated.
