2018 Veterans Day Parade Information

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — On Monday, Nov. 12, join local service men and women for the annual Veterans Day Parade down Main Street in Buckhannon. Line-up will begin at 9 a.m. at Charles W. Gibson Library at 105 E. Main St. and the parade will commence at 9:30 a.m., led by the Buckhannon-Upshur High School marching band.

Veterans will follow immediately after the band, both on foot and in cars.

Other supporting organizations — including church, youth and other service groups — are asked to join as well, proceeding after the veterans.

The parade will march down Main Street heading west from the library toward the Upshur County Courthouse, turning left on Chancery Street, left again on Friendly Way, and concluding with the Walk of Valor through Jawbone Park.

Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic during this time, so please make plans to use the free parking lots and spaces on adjacent streets.

Once everyone has arrived at Jawbone Park, the crowd will gather at the main stage for a short program thanking and recognizing our veterans.

At 11 a.m., VFW Post 3663 invites all veterans and the public to the VFW building at 12 S. Kanawha Street for their Veterans Day program.

Post Commander Larry Brown of the VFW-3663/Commander of the Upshur County Honor Guard, Post Commander Robert Post of the American Legion Post 7 and Post Adjutant Mary Albaugh are organizing the event for all veterans, regardless of whether they are currently members of either organization.

For more information, contact VFW Post Commander Larry Brown at (304) 472-9152 or American Legion Post Adjutant Mary Albaugh at (304)460-7377, or (304) 516-5040, or iwabyf@gmail.com.
