BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats took the aggression and composure of its promising second half against the University of Charleston, Sunday, into its first half against Concord University but it came apart in the last 45 minutes and fell 4-0, Wednesday.
Whatever the Bobcats had in the first half that controlled most of the possession and thwarted Concord from getting many chances at goal, disappeared in the second half. From the whistle, Concord came out aggressive in its marking and stole dozens of Wesleyan passes to create additional chances.
The Mountain Lion steamroll began quickly, when Ignacio Alvarez Maina (assist to Richard Henry) scored on a corner kick after a Wesleyan unsuccessful clearing caused a scramble inside the six-yard box.
Concord’s second goal was a blast from Malher Santi Possu (assist to Darian Bradshaw) from 25 yards out that zipped past Bobcat keeper James Docherty and into the top right corner.
Kyle Gordon scored Concord’s third goal in the 81st minute which seemed to deflate the Bobcat defense and so Concord quickly scored its fourth (Syrus Conolly) a minute later.
Wesleyan hosts Seton Hill University (Pa.) Sunday, Sept. 22 at 4:30 p.m.
