Loveberry Bake Shop brings back ‘hometown bakery’ to Weston to satisfy local sweet tooths

BUCKHANNON – The Loveberry Bake Shop in Weston offers homemade pastries, bagels and a plethora of sweet tooth-satisfying specials.

The Loveberry Bake Shop opened in July 2022 at 250 W 2nd Street in Weston. Its hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to noon.

Owner of Loveberry Bake Shop, Jessica Richards, said the shop is a family-run business and they were looking to fill a need when they opened their business.

“We live here, and what inspired us was seeing the need — people were asking about having another hometown bakery,” Richards said. We just wanted to bring that back to the community.”

Richards, her mother and her sister run the shop and offer fan-favorite items and seasonal treats alike.

“We do have some standard stuff like our cupcakes; there are several flavors we have every day, and then we put a couple of different ones out that we switch up, and we usually always have blueberry muffins,” Richards said. “We have been making several pumpkin pastries for the fall, but we rotate flavors and cookies.”

Chocolate chip cookies are a timeless classic.
Seasonal offerings — like pumpkin cookies and more — are ready for consumption at Loveberry Bake Shop in Weston.

Richards said customers can usually count on finding the classics: sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies and some form of cinnamon-based cookie — whether it’s cinnamon or a molasses or snickerdoodle.

“We just rotate those, and the same goes with our peanut butter cookies,” she said.

They also provide weekly specials, including different soups, sandwiches and other hot lunches.

“We’ve done a meatloaf or a pasta of some sort, and we usually carry our turkey or ham wraps and some sandwiches that we make fresh daily like ham salad, chicken salad sandwiches, BLTs,” Richards said. “We also have breakfast specials, and I would say the most popular would be the biscuits and gravy and the sausage and cheese rolls, but we also do bacon, egg and cheese bagels.”

The bakery’s most popular items include classics like cupcakes, sausage rolls, cookies, chocolate chip muffins and blueberry muffins.

But Richards said that since fall is in full swing, the bakery is rotating some seasonal delectable.

What’s your favorite flavor?
Peanut butter cupcakes are a scrumptious classic that never go out of style.

“We started a lot of our pumpkin stuff, but we’ll be incorporating some apple dumplings,” she said. “We’ve done an apple cinnamon or a caramel apple cupcake, and the same goes for the scones — we’ve done some apple cinnamon scones,” Richards said.

Plus, did you know you can find freshly baked bagels to kick off your day at Loveberry Bakery?

“Our bagels are popular in the morning, and they’re made right here,” she said.

Loveberry is also able to take custom orders, including cakes for special occasions such as birthdays and weddings.

“We make all of our stuff in-house — it’s all made here, sold here, so and we have some unique, and different styles,” Richards said. “We’re from Pennsylvania, so we do use a dark cocoa in some of our stuff, like our no bakes and our chocolate cupcakes, so we do have some different things that not everybody has around here.”

Specials and other news about the bakery may be found on their Facebook page.

There’s no better way to start your morning than with a blueberry muffin from the Loveberry Bake Shop.
