Marie B. Carpenter Williams, age 92, of Lumberport, WV and formerly of Hacker Valley, WV passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Madison Nursing Care Center in Morgantown. She was born November 15, 1931, in Webster County a daughter of the late Howard O. and Pearl Isenhart Carpenter of Hacker Valley.
She was preceded in death by her two late husbands, Gearold B. Carpenter and Perry Williams. In addition to her parents and her two late husbands, she was preceded in death by a special friend of twenty-two years, Hartzel Evans; one grandson John Paul Lemley, II; stepson Evan and wife Marlene Williams, step son-in-law Bob Harrison; two sisters: Erma Gillis and Iona Jean Duke; brother-in-law Harold Carpenter; sister-in-laws: Juanita Nicols, Joy Gladwell and Anna Davidson.
She is survived by one daughter Sherry and husband John Lemley of Burton, WV; one son Jerry and wife Mary Carpenter of Archdale, NC; stepdaughter Sheila Harrison of Clarksburg; two grandchildren: Stephanie and husband Shawn Corley and Margaret Carpenter, several step grandchildren; three great grandchildren: Carly and husband Bai Carpenter, Jason and Sereniti and several step great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren: Kyler and Lincoln Carpenter; brother-in-law Russell and wife Bonnie Carpenter of Sutton; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Marie was a lifelong member of the Hacker Valley United Methodist Church. She was a former employee at Holly River State Park and was retired from ARC of Harrison County. Marie was a Rebekah and a member of the Hacker Valley Lodge #91, where she joined in 1957. She was a member of the Senior Citizens and Homemakers of Lumberport. After retirement, she spent winters in Myrtle Beach, SC where she made several friends. She loved spending time with her family.
Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 10-12:00 Noon, the funeral hour, with Pastor David Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Hacker Valley Cemetery.
