Debbie Murray is Population Health Nurse at SJMH

Hospital clinician, Debbie Murray, FNP-BC, has filled a newly-created position at the Hospital to educate patients about the importance of screenings for the better health – Population Health coordinator.  She encourages wellness exams throughout the Stonewall Jackson system.

Murray is located at the offices of Drs. Orvik, Pauley-Persinger, and Amy Pearson at Garton Plaza in Weston. Before taking this new job, she was an Emergency Room Charge Nurse at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. She also was the family nurse practitioner at WV Gastronenterology.

Murray is happy to help her patients understand the importance of wellness exams and preventative tests.

She noted, “Educating patients on why testing is recommended and how that can be beneficial to their health outcomes has provided great compliance with the patients agreeing to the testing. In the long term, we can catch disease earlier, and in turn, decrease health care costs to the patient and the system.”

Murray noted that she is able to increase the number of dexascans, colonoscopies, and mammograms. Increasing mammograms is of special importance here since Lewis County has one of the highest non-compliance rates.

She is a Lewis County High School graduate and received her BSN from Mountain State University. Her MSN degree was attained at Walden University. She is the daughter of the late Bob and Karen Bailey of Weston.  She is married to Michael Murray. She has two children Joseph Spray, 18, and Abigail Spray, 16.
