Updated: Car wrecks into ditch along Hickory Flat Road on Thursday afternoon

One woman was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital after a single-vehicle wreck on Hickory Flat Road on Thursday.

Lt. Mark Davis of the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department said the incident happened Thursday, Sept. 17 at about 1:55 p.m., one mile down the Hickory Flat Road. Lilly Blagg, 40, of Buckhannon was driving at 2011 Chevy Equinox when she went off the right side of the road in a slight turn, Davis said.

“Just as she came into that slight turn there, she reached down to get something out of the seat and the vehicle went off the road, hit the road bank and turned up on its side,” Davis said.

Traffic was stopped briefly while the driver was freed from the vehicle and loaded into an ambulance.
