Buckhannon: Then and Now – Upshur County Libraries

Buckhannon: Then and Now – Join us in showcasing the landmarks of Upshur County throughout history and today.

This week, we shine a spotlight on Upshur County libraries. The Stonewall Jackson Regional Library served Upshur, Harrison and Lewis counties around 1957. That establishment only offered bookmobile services at that time. Over time, a larger location was needed.

The Upshur County Public Library we see today opened in 1979 at its current location. The bookmobile services ended in 1981, around the same time that the Stonewall Jackson Regional Library changed its name to the Upshur County Public Library that we all know today.
