Buckhannon: Then & Now – Scott’s Service Station

Buckhannon: Then and Now. Join us in showcasing Upshur County throughout history and today.

Scott’s Service Station was owned by Tennerton’s own Harold Scott. This was a full-service station where drivers would pull in to receive automotive service, groceries and notions. Two attendants of Scott’s Service Station would put gas in the tank, wash the windshield, check customers’ oil levels and more without the driver even stepping out of their vehicle.

A few fun facts about this image:

  • In the top right corner of the image, you can see that gas was a total of 21 cents!
  • The glass gars with the funnel – at the bottom right corner of the image – hold quarts of oil.
  • These gas pumps are highly collectable for history-buffs across the world!
