Bulky Goods Collection Begins at 5:30 AM – Bulky goods collection for large items such as couches, chairs, mattresses, appliances, etc. All Buckhannon Waste Department customers are allowed four items per month and eight tires per year. You must call by Wednesday, January 15, 2025, to schedule a pick-up. Items must be at the curb by 5:30 AM on Friday to ensure pick-up.

Other Information:

Reminder — All waste (garbage) must be in a garbage bag when placed in the collection bins (toters or dumpsters). In certain instances, a full-size garbage truck cannot make it into a waste customer’s service area with a heavy accumulation of snow or ice. In this case, the department may use a pickup truck that cannot collect loose items, which could blow out the back of the truck.

Ensure the department can access your garbage containers (toters or dumpsters). If it is blocked by snow or a vehicle, your waste will not be picked up.

Reminder — Property owners must keep sidewalks clear. The City of Buckhannon urges all residents to exercise caution during winter weather. We also remind all residents that property owners are responsible for removing and clearing snow and ice accumulating on sidewalks abutting or adjoining their premises. Together, we can keep our sidewalks clear and residents safe.
