Community prayer event Sunday to support St. Joseph’s Hospital and healthcare in West Virginia

WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital will host a special prayer event on Sunday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at the hospital’s location at 1 Amalia Drive in Buckhannon. The community is invited to join together in prayer for St. Joseph’s Hospital, healthcare across West Virginia and the ongoing preservation of the Certificate of Need (CON) program, which is currently under threat of repeal.

The prayer event will focus on lifting up WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital, local healthcare providers and the vital services that they offer to the community. Attendees will also pray that the Certificate of Need program, which plays a critical role in maintaining high-quality, accessible healthcare in the state, will remain intact.

Event Details:

  • Date: Sunday, March 2, 2025
  • Time: 2 p.m.
  • Location: WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital, 1 Amalia Drive, Buckhannon, WV – to the right of the Main Entrance

All members of the community are encouraged to attend and participate in this important time of prayer. Local pastors and faith leaders who wish to take part in leading prayers during the event are asked to RSVP by emailing gage.rewerts@wvumedicine.org or nestort@wvumedicine.org with their name and phone number by February 28. You may also call with any questions by phoning either 304-473-2189 or 304-473-6814.

Additionally, there will be informational resources available on how community members can get involved in advocating for the protection of the Certificate of Need in West Virginia. This program is essential in regulating the expansion of healthcare services to ensure that resources are distributed in a way that benefits all residents, particularly in rural areas.

WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital hopes to see a strong turnout for this powerful event as the community comes together to support both local healthcare providers and the ongoing strength of the healthcare system in West Virginia.
