Free residential paper-shredding event slated for April 20

BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Solid Waste Authority will host a free paper-shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 20.

This event will he held across from the Recycling Center on Mud Lick Road. Please note this change in location is safer and more effective for the public. Please follow the signs that will be posted at 395 Mud Luck Road for your ease and convenience.

The Upshur County Solid Waste Authority, in partnership with the City of Buckhannon, would like to remind residents of its general year-round recycling guidelines. Items accepted for recycling are newspaper, corrugated cardboard, No. 1 plastic soda/pop bottles, No. 2 clear milk jugs and aluminum/steel cans without liners.

Additionally, year-round hours of operation for commercial and residential recycling at the Recycling Center/Buckhannon Waste Transfer Station at 380 Mud Lick Road from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Saturdays.
