Gene Lee Johnson, 72, of Buckhannon, W.Va., passed away Friday, July 3, 2020, at his home after a long illness.
He was born January 17, 1948, in Kanawha County, W.Va., a son of the late Roy Chancey and Hazel Davis Johnson.
On February 2, 1967, he married Linda May, who survives. Also surviving are, one son, Gene Lee Johnson, Jr. of Buckhannon; two daughters, Melissa Browning and husband Jeff and Debra Johnson all of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Gene Allen Browning and wife Kendra and Steven Arnold and three great-grandchildren, Jordan James, Arabella Phillips and Renesmee Browning.
Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army, was a Coal Miner and attended the Sago Baptist Church in Sago, W.Va.
He loved to ginseng and garden. One of his greatest joys was bringing a smile to someone’s face. He has touched many hearts over the years and will be deeply missed.
In honoring Mr. Johnson’s wishes, he will be cremated.
