GLENVILLE, W.Va. — Glenville State University Athletics announced four new members of the Curtis Elam Athletic Hall of Fame: Jerald Brown, Larry Loughner, Paris McLeod and Tony Gibson.
“This class has four different eras represented and includes individuals that made definitive marks in Pioneer History,” Glenville State Director of Athletics Jesse Skiles said.
Jerald Brown ’03 — Football
Brown played football at Glenville State, becoming a two-time All-WVIAC First Team selection and the school’s all-time leader in kick return touchdowns. He also helped lead GSU to a 2001 WVIAC championship. Brown played 13 years professionally in the AFL and CFL.
Larry Loughner ’85 — Football
Loughner was a three-year starter at center on the Pioneer football team and became an All-WVIAC First Team selection.
Paris McLeod ’18 — Women’s basketball
McLeod became one of the most decorated Lady Pioneers in program history, scoring more than 1,600 points in three years. McLeod was twice named an All-American, earned First Team All-Region honors in back-to-back seasons and was twice named MEC Player of the Year. She also helped lead GSU to multiple conference championships.
Tony Gibson ’97 — Football
Gibson started all four years for the Pioneers at defensive back and played a key part in the program’s 1993 national championship game appearance. Since departing Glenville, Gibson has gained more than 20 years of Division I coaching experience, including his current role as head coach of the Marshall Thundering Herd.
“We are very excited about getting these All-Time Pioneer greats into our Hall of Fame,” Skiles said.
A banquet and induction ceremony honoring the 2026 inductees will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, October 10, in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom. A social reception will precede the event at 5 p.m. Tickets will be on sale in the coming weeks.
Glenville State University’s Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 2001 through the generosity of the late Curtis Elam.
