This past weekend, the men’s and women’s Wesleyan Track and Field team competed at the Mid Major Invitational. At this competition, there were school records broken, personal records broken, and NCAA Provisional Marks met.
On the women’s side, Sam Cash broke the pentathlon school record and hit an NCAA provisional mark with a score of 3,591. Ayanna Woods tied her PR or 7.89 in the 60 with a 6th place finish. Aubrey Paes and Lindsey Dillon had 7th and 10th place finishes in the 3k running 10:36 and 10:42. Jacqualin Leaman had an 8th place finish in women’s weight with a throw of 12.64 meters. Mallory McGinnis also finished 8th place in womens shot, throwing 11.76 meters.
For the men, Royell Salmon broke the school record and hit an NCAA provisional record in long jump with a mark of 7.22 meters. Michael Hansford won the triple jump, tying his PR of 14.99 meters. Jack Ingram, Brian Valiente, Tyree Archer, and Phil Phillips all finished top 10 in mens weight. Phillips also finished 4th in shot put throwing 13.65 meters. Taiwo Babawale finished 2nd in the 60 with a time of 6.88. Jonathan Norton rounded out the weekend with a 9th place finish in the 3k running 8:41.
The Men and Women’s Track and Field team will be back in competition on February 7-8 at the Jud Logan Memorial Invitational.
