Jane P. McCartney, 72, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Holbrook Health Care Center in Buckhannon.
She was born October 19, 1948, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Cyrus Franklin Junior and Mildred Pauline Zickefoose Wentz.
On May 30, 1970, she married Steve McCartney who survives of Buckhannon. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Carrie Moore and husband Andrew of Buckhannon; one son, Jason McCartney and wife Heidi of Buckhannon; 11 grandchildren, Koop Cottrill of Buckhannon, Cora Cottrill of Buckhannon, Alex Nesbitt of Buckhannon, Travis Nesbitt of Charleston, W.Va., Austin Smith of Buckhannon, Angel McCartney of Buckhannon, Aaron McCartney of Buckhannon, Autumn McCartney of Buckhannon, Kaylyn McCartney of Buckhannon, Jessica Ware of Buckhannon, Maverick Moore (on the way) of Buckhannon; five great grandchildren, Aurora, Marishka, Deliah, Oliver and Harmony; three siblings, Cindy Wentz of Buckhannon, James “Jim” Wentz and wife Carol of Peterstown, W.Va. and Sandra Harper and husband Rick of Buckhannon; niece, Kristy Spencer and husband Mark of Buckhannon, nephew, Alan Tenney and wife Lisa of Buckhannon, Niece, Rachel Carnes and husband David of Peterstown, W.Va. and special friend, Rita Ostrowske of Buckhannon.
Mrs. McCartney was a legal secretary. She was a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church and a Lifetime Member of the Veteran’s of the Foreign War Ladies Aux. She was also a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and of the B.P.W.
Mrs. McCartney enjoyed volunteering for Relay for Life, working in her garden and spending time with her grandkids. She was an avid collector, and loved her hummingbirds, and antiquing with her husband. She so enjoyed spending time in the kitchen baking and taking goodies to family and coworkers. Some of her brightest times were centered around bringing everyone together for holidays and family traditions making memories that will forever carry on.
Friends will be received Friday, August 13, 2021, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanham Cemetery in Queens, W.Va.
