Mildred Maxine “Jo” Booth, 97, of Arbor Landing of Ocean Isle passed away on Wednesday the 23rd of June 2021 with her family by her side.
Jo was born in Upshur County, W.Va. on the 18th of February 1924 to the late James Garfield and Martha Miles Wilfong. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings, Irene R. Hall and husband Joe, Wilda Clark and husband Ray, Karl Wilfong and wife Roberta.
She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and is a thirty-five-year member of the Little River United Methodist Church. At the age of twenty-five, Jo married the love of her life, Wayne Booth and they began a life together. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed reading and traveling extensively, they traveled with their Airstream across America and spent many summers at the St Lawrence River and many winters in Texas with their grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband of seventy two years, William Wayne Booth; two daughters, Brenda Young and husband Dwayne of Trinity, Texas, Lisa King of Calabash, N.C.; grandchildren, Jill Hogue, Randi Vickers and husband Adrian, Buck Hogue and wife Renee, Brett Hogue; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Wilfong and wife Fran of Del.; two sisters, Sue Gum of Mich., Jeanne Ours of Va. and many nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be conducted at Arbor Landing of Ocean Isle.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at Arbor Landing and Amedisys Hospice for care given to Jo.
