Ralph E. Cunningham

Ralph E. Cunningham, age 91, of the Alton Community, died Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Holbrook Healthcare Center.

He was born on July 6, 1932, in Imperial, WV, a son of the late Roy and Opal Cunningham.

He is survived by companion Dorothy Detamore; three sons: Rodney Cunningham and wife Heidy of Pittsburgh, PA, Larry Cunningham of Buckhannon, and Mark Cunningham and wife Tracy of Buckhannon; two daughters: Pam Cunningham of Gloversville, NY, and Anita Wright of Pittsburgh, PA; fourteen grandchildren: Micheal Cunningham of NY, Mary Cunningham of NY, Alex Cunningham, Tyler Cunningham, Jordan Cunningham, Cameron Cunningham, Sam and wife Nicole Cunningham of AZ, Lauren and husband Jackson Morihara of Philadelphia, PA, Elaina Cunningham of Buckhannon, Lucas Cunningham of Buckhannon, Carson and husband Hovig Melkonian of NY, Grant Cunningham of Raleigh, NC, Danielle Seitz and Mark Turner of Pittsburgh, PA, and Brandon Cartrette of Buckhannon; eight great grandchildren: Alexandria Seitz Turner, Jude Cobb, Cal Cunningham, Clarice Cunninham, Ciara Cunningham, Maui Morihara, Ira Morihara, and Liam Cartrette; three sisters: Nina and husband Arnie Monroe of Buckhannon, Linda and husband Rusty Weaver of French Creek, and Kay Jacks of Bridgeport; and Dorothy’s children: Terry James, Larry James, Diana Sue Karr, and Rick James.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers: Roger, Allen, Jim, and Jerry Cunningham; two sisters: Tressie DePoy and Ruby Quick; two sons: Mike and Ron Cunningham, one grandson Matthew Cunningham, and one granddaughter Jessica Cartrette.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 4 PM – 6 PM, at Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 10 AM, at the funeral chapel, with Pastor Ed McDaniels officiating. Interment will follow in the Indian Camp Cemetery where the Upshur County Honor Guard will accord graveside rites.
