Six Lady Bucs to play in WVSLA All-Star game Saturday; B-U coaching staff to oversee West Team

TENNERTON – It’s not surprising with all the success that the Buckhannon-Upshur girl’s lacrosse team had that they will have a huge representation at the 2022 WVSLA All-Star Game.

Buckhannon-Upshur will have six players representing the West All-Stars, including senior Miranda Greene, senior Hannah Walton, senior Gaidan Adams, senior Mashae Bower, sophomore Kendall Defibaugh and sophomore Kaylee Black.

The Buckhannon-Upshur coaching staff will also be part of the game as head coach Jamie Green and assistant coach Dave Lewellyn will oversee the West squad.

The game will take place Saturday, June 4 at East-East Stadium in Fairmont at 11 a.m.

The Lady Bucs had a banner 2022 season that saw them post a 17-2 record where they finished as runner-ups in the state after falling to Fairmont Senior in the title game.

“Going into the season our goal was to get to the state championship,” stated Greene. “Another goal was to get as many girls on the All-Star team. We knew if we finished first or second in the state, we’d get at least six players. Being state runners-up is great. I believe the two best teams were in the state finals this year.  All six girls in the All-Star game made All-State honors.  These girls represent Buckhannon very well.”
