Multiple wrecks and disabled vehicles were reported in Upshur County as a winter storm dumped more than six inches of snow Thursday afternoon and evening.
“Multiple motor vehicle accidents and disabled vehicles have been responded to within Upshur County,” according to the Upshur County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. “Please continue to monitor the weather and road conditions.”
The release advises drivers to avoid traveling if at all possible.
“West Virginia Emergency Management Officials are urging motorists, ‘If you don’t have to be on the roads… stay off of them until this passes,'” the release notes. “Due to the inclement weather and hazardous winter driving conditions, please consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve… Stay safe!”
