BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan has elected to opt out of the remainder of its 2020-21 spring football season, effective immediately. The decision was made due to a high number of injuries to WVWC football student-athletes.
“I am extremely proud of our team for how they fought through all of the adversity this season,” head coach Tony Testa said. “Our focus is now set on the fall. I’m looking forward to working with our players to prepare for an exciting fall season.”
Among Mountain East Conference teams, Fairmont State has also opted out of the rest of the spring football season.
West Virginia Wesleyan’s 2021 fall season schedule will be released at a later date.
