The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 3,221 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s an increase of 264 since the last report.
Locally, reported active case totals are: Upshur (49), Barbour (19), Lewis (29), Randolph (29) and Webster (15) counties. In Upshur County, that’s an increase of eight active cases in the last 24 hours.
Six additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 83-year old female from Boone County, an 80-year old female from Mingo County, a 62-year old male from Summers County, a 79-year old male from Ohio County, a 78-year old female from Randolph County, and a 94-year old female from Kanawha County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 21, 2022, there are currently 3,221 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There have been six deaths reported since the last report, with a total of 7,121 deaths attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release.
About 304 residents are hospitalized with the virus, with 41 currently in intensive care and 14 on a ventilator. The daily percent positive was 9.70%.
About 55% of the state has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
