WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute opens new infusion suite at Innovation Center

The WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) officially cut the ribbon today (March 3) on a new, state-of-the-art Neuro Procedural Suite (NPS) for patients receiving monoclonal antibody (MAB) infusion therapy as treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological disorders.

Located on the ground floor of the RNI Innovation Center, the NPS provides neuro infusions and procedures for Memory Health Clinic and other patients with neurological conditions, and for patients undergoing focused ultrasound procedures.

The 1,800 square-foot suite includes four infusion bays dedicated to Alzheimer’s and neurological disease infusions and two procedure rooms with recovery beds. The procedure rooms are also used to serve patients needing lumbar punctures for diagnosis and treatment.

“This new facility provides state-of-the-art technology and innovative treatments combined with a healing environment for patients impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other conditions,” Ali Rezai, M.D., executive chair of the RNI, said.

The intravenous infusions at the new NPS involve either lecanemab (Leqembi) or donanemab (Kisunla) antibodies, which target and reduce the beta amyloid plaque buildup in the brain. The RNI team is a leader in the country in Alzheimer’s therapies and was among the first in the nation to adopt this method to slow the progression of early-onset or mild Alzheimer’s disease.

“We are fortunate to have the ability to provide comprehensive and advanced therapies for patients with Alzheimer’s in this beautiful facility,” Marc Haut, Ph.D., director of the RNI Memory Health Clinic, said.
