WVWC men’s and women’s swim teams both finish eighth at GMAC/MEC Championships

CANTON, Ohio – The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s and women’s swimming teams continued to compete in the four-day Great Midwest Conference & Mountain East Conference Championships on Friday at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio.

Day Three

On the women’s side, Morgan Choffin was the highest Bobcat swimmer in the 500-yard free. Choffin shaved off more than three seconds in the final heat of the event. Amanda Schlor completed the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.20. Alayna Crane finished the same event in 1:03.67.
 
Jennifer Williams logged a time of 1:11.84 in the 100-yard backstroke. In the 200-yard butterfly, Alienor Dalle (2:33.68) and Morgan Bennet (2:36.56) placed in the finals of the event.
 
Concluding the evening, the 800-yard freestyle relay team of Crane, Zeinah AbdelsalamLillie Archer and Choffin completed the final race in 8:34.98.
 
On the men’s side, Marc Bennett placed ninth overall in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:53.95. Jake Bohland finished the 500 free in 5:07.83. Nick Gerosa recorded a time of 58.05 in the 100-yard backstroke. Santiago De Stefano Cavazos placed 14th overall in the 200-yard butterfly and finished with a time of 2:06.07. Stephen Groves II logged a time of 2:20.77 in the same event.

Day Four
 
On the women’s side, Lillie Archer paced a time of 20:16.18 in the 1650 -yard free. Zeinah Abdelsalam completed the race in 22:32.49. Alayna Crane came in 19th overall in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:18.20. Jennifer Williams completed the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:46.43. The 400 yard free relay team of Alienor DalleMorgan Bennet, Crane and Hannah Cook logged a time of 3:48.87.
 
On the men’s side, Jake placed 21st overall in the 1650-yard free with a time of 18:55.52. Russ Sutton touched the wall in 21:59.09 in the same event.
 
Marc Bennett completed the 100-yard freestyle in 48.44 for a 19th overall finish. Stephen Groves II completed the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26.75.
 
The 400 yard relay team of Jackson Igo, Groves II, Bohland and Bennett completed their race in 3:25.60.
 
The women’s team collected 346.5 points for eighth place overall in the meet. The men’s team placed eighth place with 241 points.
