CHARLESTON – Buckhannon-Upshur’s Cameron Zuliani was oh so close to a state championship in the discus throw on day two Friday at the 2022 West Virginia State High School Championships at Laidley Field.

Zuliani had an impressive throw of 124-05 but had to settle for runner-up honors as Sierra Davis of Preston beat her out but the narrowest of margins with a heave of 125-02.

Zuliani was also part of the next highest finish for the Lady Bucs as she was the second leg of the 4×102.5-meter shuttle hurdle relay team that took third place.

Zuliani, along with Catherine Oliveto, Dezi Pugh and Chloe Cale ran a time of 1:07.97 for their third-place finish.
